About Me

Welcome to my site. Feel free to browse around. I hope you enjoy what you see.
Keep in mind, I just published this website. Lots of editing work still needs to be completed, but I wanted to get it up running after an absence of 8 years. Thanks for your patience.

I became fascinated with photography in 3rd grade when I won a little plastic Snapshooter camera at a Cub Scout Carnival. I have been passionate about photography ever since.

Beginning in high school, I tried my hand at each of these photography genre: news, sports, wedding, portrait, real estate, micro, bird, street, still life, and I am sure other types as well. Each were learning experiences - from technical skills to finding out what facit of photography I enjoyed as well as not.

I have been a member of the Coalition of Photographic Arts (CoPA) since 2008. In addition, I have exhibited my photographs annually in museums and galleries since 2004 and have won numerous awards. I have also taught several photography workshops and given numerous presentations.

My fine art photographs are made mostly with a 4x5 film camera. But I have also used a 5x7 or 8x10 inch camera and occasionally a 14x20 camera, as well as my Nikon F2 or one of a variety of 120 roll film cameras. I develop my film and print B&W silver prints in a traditional (wet) darkroom. I also occasionally make paper negatives and prints.

Family snapshots and family travels are now mostly taken with a mirror-less digital camera.

I enjoy traveling, camping, hiking and riding my bicycle. I also enjoy listening to mostly rock music (and blues and classical) and reading non-fiction books as well as fiction Classics.

I have a Master of Arts degree, not in Art or Photography, but in Economics. Economics is a mix of art and science; photography too is a mix of art and science. I also worked in the life insurance industry doing research.
